" Amazing grace
How sweet the sound.
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lot
But now I’m found.
Was blind
But now I see."
(Amazing Grace – John Newton)
This painting shows a woman who has found out about her inner power and has started to use it. It is a power that I believe we all have and is given to us through our third eye which is also called intuition. But to receive it, we have to believe in it. This woman did believe in it and that’s how she reached Fawohodie.
Fawohodie is tattooed on the hand that removes the chain on her neck and it is the symbol of independence, freedom and emancipation. Yes, she freed herself and this was made possible because she was touched by the light and trusted it.
Onyankopon Adom Nti Biribiara Bye Yie, symbol of hope, providence, and faith is tatooed on her other hand and litterally means that By God’s grâce, all will be well. It is that same hand that uncovers the third eye. That same eye that is usually not trusted or even goes unnoticed but which, now that it’s open, reveals a Gye Nyame, shaped pupil.
The message of this painting is simple. That moment when you see the light will make you close your eyes in relief... Inhale, exhale and allow your inner divine to shine and give you vision so you can start breaking free from your fears, from your mold, from anything, or anyone that is holding you back or keeping you low. Allow the light from the outside to reveal itself on the inside and get the key to an existence of freedom.
That type of connection is also called love of self.
